This mixed-use commercial space in the heart of Woodstock, Cape Town was designed to balance functionality with warmth — bringing together co-working, retail, wellness and hospitality within a cohesive industrial framework. Exposed concrete, white-painted brick, visible services overhead and raw structural elements establish a clean architectural base, softened through warm timber tones, tactile textiles, sculptural detailing and layered with both neutral and colourful hues. Throughout the space, moments of texture and softness were intentionally introduced to counterbalance the rigidity often associated with industrial interiors, creating an environment that feels calm, playful and creatively energising.
I especially enjoyed exploring the interplay between utility and atmosphere in this project — from the softer retail interventions and custom display sections to the openness and flow of the shared working environments. Developed in collaboration with the GOOD team (now known as Neighbourgood), the project reflects a shared appreciation and creativity for a mixed-use public experience.
I always love working with the Neighbourgood team — their collaborative spirit and clear creative vision makes the process especially rewarding.
