Nautica | Camps Bay
High-end Residential conceptual & design development & technical details and documentation.

Nautica, a residential property offering both short- and long-term rentals, is currently in progress in Camps Bay, with works set to commence in June 2026.

Reimagining the roof structure through the concept of biophilic design, perforated aluminium panels with custom laser-cut detailing create beautiful dappled light on the floor below, while remaining fully waterproof. The proposed timber-look decking lightens and warms the entire corridor, while also providing a highly functional non-slip surface during the harsh winter rains Cape Town can experience for months at a time.

A sleeker, more contemporary look and feel is introduced by removing the old-school steel turrets and refurbishing the slabs. Select statement façades are painted in a sophisticated charcoal tone, balanced by the warm brown wood-look flooring and entrance walls, all working harmoniously with the beautiful off-white plastered bones of the building. The overall concept comes together with warmth, refinement, and understated sophistication.

Biophilia definition:

Biophilia is the innate human tendency to connect with nature and living systems — literally translating from Greek as a “love of life.” In architecture, it refers to designing spaces that maximise views of the sky or landscape, embrace natural light, and create a more open, calming atmosphere.
